More from Vickie

Hello my name is Victoria Greenwood or Vickie as you will get to know me and I am based at CBT and Counselling Folkestone practice. I hold a diploma in ‘Professional Counselling’ and practice ‘Integrative Therapy’. for adults. This  means I draw upon a wide range of modalities during my work. This might include ‘Psychodynamic’ and ‘Person -Centred ‘ approaches. Alongside the use of ‘Cognitive Behavioural Therapy’ (CBT) to help you move forward. The use of this wide range of approaches enables me to adapt my style to suit your individual needs.

The therapeutic relationship we develop is of the upmost importance. Therefore, I will endeavour to quickly build a rapport between us, so you feel safe enough to share what is going on for you. I will never judge you. But I will gently encourage you to share your experiences with me. Together, we will work through your problems so you are able to find clarity and structure in your life once more.

I specialise in mental health and neurodiversity; which is the range of differences in individual brain function and behavioural traits.  The experience of this, both professionally and personally has given me extensive knowledge in both areas. I have a particular interest in trauma and obesity and use a range of CBT techniques to deliver this therapy. My experience also covers a wide range of issues, such as anxiety, depression, stress, PTSD, relationship/family problems, addiction and so on.

My experience

I have worked with people in a social care setting for over 20 years and have experience of working in prisons and the housing and homelessness sectors. This has enabled me to gain experience of both addiction and mental health. I have delivered training programmes to criminal offenders which helped break the cycle of crime and addiction. My work has also spanned the care sector where I experienced the challenges people with disabilities face along with the impact on their families.

My move into private practice was driven by my desire to use the experience I have gained to help people achieve their dreams and aspirations through self-awareness and growth. I am spiritual and believe there is a path for everybody in life. Mine is to help people take the route which is right for them.

Ethical Standards

I am an accredited member of the National Counselling Society (NCS) and a member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy ((BACP).  Therefore, I subscribe to and work within their ethical guidelines. I am supervised regularly to ensure I am practicing to high standards. I undertake regular additional training to enhance my skills and knowledge.

More From Shauna

Hello, I’m Shauna, a fully qualified Integrative Therapist based at CBT and Counselling Kent’s Folkestone practice. I hold a Level 4 Diploma in Professional Counselling accredited by the National Counselling Society (NCS) and I am a registered member of the BACP.

As an integrative therapist, I tailor counselling to suit you. Depending on your needs, I may draw from Person-Centred Therapy, Psychodynamic Therapy, Transactional Analysis, Attachment Theory, or Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT). CBT is particularly helpful if you feel stuck, as it helps break down problems, recognise unhelpful patterns, and build new ways of thinking and coping. I blend these approaches in a way that feels natural and comfortable for you.

Starting therapy can feel like a big step, but you won’t be doing it alone. I offer a warm, confidential, and non-judgemental space where you will be supported and heard. My aim is to help you work towards positive change, at your own pace, with guidance every step of the way.

In our first session, we will gently explore what’s troubling you and what you might like to change. If you’re not sure yet, that’s absolutely okay — many clients feel the same. We’ll work together to find clarity and direction.

Background and Experience

Before becoming a therapist, I worked for many years in social care, residential homes, and independent living services, supporting adults with physical and learning disabilities. I also hold a degree in Midwifery and gained valuable experience in hospital settings, which strengthened my communication skills and my ability to create a trusting therapeutic relationship.

  • Anxiety and depression
  • Bereavement and loss
  • Childhood and adult trauma
  • Relationship and family issues
