    Anger Management

Do you have a problem controlling your anger? Counselling and CBT can help you manage your response and regain control.

    Understanding Anger

Our counsellors understand that it's normal to feel irritation or annoyance at times. It's a natural human response to certain life experiences. People often feel anger in response to believing they are being attacked, judged, insulted or frustrated. It becomes a problem when it's triggered too easily and provokes an extreme response, harming you or the people around you.

Difficulties with anger often relate to how we've learned to manage strong emotions. Anger, like all emotions, involves physiological and chemical changes in the body. Unresolved anger can lead to high blood pressure, heart attack, depression and anxiety. When anger gets out of control, it can be destructive and significantly impact your quality of life — affecting your career, your relationships and overall wellbeing.

Anger can range from irritability through to rage. In general, any form of anger is caused by the belief that life is unfair and/or someone has violated our internal beliefs about how someone 'should' or 'should not' behave.

How Anger Management Counselling Can Help

While you may not be able to control every situation that triggers anger, you can learn to manage how you respond. Therapy helps you develop greater awareness of your reactions and build healthier ways of expressing difficult emotions.

Anger management counselling focuses on understanding what sits beneath the anger. Together, you will explore triggers, patterns, and beliefs that may be fuelling intense reactions.

Many people discover that anger has become their default response to stress, frustration or feeling misunderstood. Therapy creates space to pause, reflect, and choose a different response.

Your therapist may draw on CBT and other therapeutic approaches to help you recognise unhelpful thinking patterns, develop practical coping strategies, and communicate more effectively.

The goal is not to suppress anger, but to express it in a way that feels controlled, constructive and aligned with your values.
