Feeling Low or Depressed? We can help

    About Depression

Depression is more than simply feeling low or fed up for a few days. We all experience periods of sadness, but depression tends to persist for weeks or months and can begin to affect every area of life.

It can leave you feeling persistently low, exhausted or disconnected from the things you once enjoyed. You may struggle with motivation, concentration or decision-making. For some people, even small tasks can feel overwhelming.

Depression is a genuine and common mental health condition. It is not a sign of weakness, and it is not something you can simply "snap out of" through willpower alone.

    Signs and Symptoms of Depression

Depression affects people in different ways. You may recognise some of the following signs in yourself. Experiencing a few of these symptoms does not automatically mean you are depressed, but if they persist or begin to affect daily life, it may be helpful to seek support.

    Continuous low mood or sadness

    Feeling hopeless and helpless

    Having low self-esteem

    Feeling tearful or irritable

    Feeling intolerant of others

Having no motivation or interest in things

Finding it difficult to make decisions

Not getting any enjoyment out of life

    Feeling anxious or worried

Having suicidal thoughts or thoughts of harming yourself

    How Therapy Can Help

Depression can make it difficult to see a way forward. Therapy provides a safe and supportive space to begin untangling what you are experiencing and to understand how it is affecting you.

Cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) can help you recognise the unhelpful thinking patterns that often keep depression going. Over time, you will learn how your thoughts, feelings and behaviours influence one another, and how small shifts in perspective can gradually improve your mood.

Counselling also offers space to explore the deeper experiences or current pressures that may be contributing to how you feel. You are not rushed, judged or expected to have the answers. Sessions move at your pace.

With the right support, many people begin to feel more hopeful, more balanced and more in control of their lives.

If you feel ready to talk, we are here to help.
