Hi, I’m Nik and I’m a fully qualified Integrative Therapeutic Counsellor based at CBT and Counselling Canterbury. I’m a registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP). I have over 20 years experience and specialise in supporting adults from all backgrounds, ethnicities, and sexual orientations with any type of problem.
Starting therapy can feel daunting for some people, whether it’s your first time or you’ve had therapy before. However, it’s important to remember, at some point in life, we all encounter challenges that can feel overwhelming. These struggles may stem from recent events or unresolved issues from the past. Counselling provides a supportive space to explore what’s troubling you, gain clarity, and take proactive steps toward restoring your emotional balance and well-being.
Being an Integrative Therapist simply means I draw un a variety of different therapeutic approaches that are most effective for your unique situation. I may combine, aspects of Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) Gestalt Therapy and Transactional Analysis. This approach allows me to respond to your individual needs with versatility, breadth and creativity.
I began my journey as a therapist over twenty years ago. Before training as a Counsellor, I worked as a Clinical Hypnotherapist in both GP surgeries and private practice. Much of this involved GP referrals for patients needing support beyond what medical care alone could provide. Many were feeling overwhelmed by aspects of their lives, which was having a significant impact on their emotional well-being. During this time, I gained extensive experience working with a wide range of issues.
As my practice evolved, I became increasingly interested in integrating counselling techniques into my hypnotherapy work. This led me to train as a Counsellor, and I quickly realised that counselling felt like the right path for me. I was drawn to its depth, the self-awareness it fosters, and the emotional balance it helps people achieve.
This journey of learning and self-discovery confirmed my passion for counselling, and I made the decision to focus solely on this approach. That decision has brought me to where I am today—helping indviduals navigate life’s challenges with compassion, understanding, and effective therapeutic support.

Early on in our work together, we will explore your personal history, including childhood, if you are happy to. This is because the challenges we have now are often influenced by our past. However, I appreciate that delving into personal history can be challenging, so I approach this with sensitivity and flexibility.

My passion for counselling was ignited during my time as a volunteer at Samaritans. It was a profoundly fulfilling experience to offer support to individuals at their lowest ebb. This involvement taught me the significance of active listening and empathetically stepping into others’ shoes. In my opinion, these qualities form the foundation of being an effective counsellor.
By combining my professional background with my personal experiences, I bring a unique blend of real-world understanding and compassionate support to my counselling practice. I am committed to creating a safe and non-judgmental space for individuals from all walks of life.

Ronak is a warm and experienced therapist offering counselling and psychotherapy for adults. She helps with a wide range of challenges, including trauma, anxiety, depression, eating disorders, stress, relationship difficulties, and self-esteem issues. With a Masters in Psychodynamic Counselling and experience across charities, private practice, and education, Ronak provides a safe and supportive space where you can explore your thoughts, understand your difficulties, and make lasting, positive changes.
Hi, my name is Ronak, and I am a fully qualified Counsellor and Psychotherapist. I hold a Masters (Level 7) in Psychodynamic Counselling from Goldsmiths University and I’m a member of the BACP (British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy). I provide Counselling and Psychotherapy to adults and offer both open-ended and short-term Counselling, CBT Therapy and Psychotherapy to adult.
I’m multilingual and offer therapy in English, German and Farsi (Persian/Iranian)
I have a clinical background in Psychodynamic Counselling which means that some aspects of our work together will focus on identifying how your past experiences and relationships may have shaped you. This is a process which supports a deeper understanding of the difficulties you may be currently experiencing and thus offers a chance to process and find new and creative ways to manage these issues.
I understand that everyone is different, and what works for one person may not necessarily work for another. Therefore, I’m flexible in my clinical approach and have adapted a more integrative way of working. This means that I will be drawing from different clinical approaches which will help support you within your journey. An example could be, we may begin by agreeing to work within a short-term setting, using a more practical guided framework such as CBT (Cognitive Behavioural Therapy). If needed we could then move to a more explorative and in-depth way of working. This will allow us to tackle any issues that may need more time, and can therefore be addressed within an open-ended setting.
In my experience; complex issues such as trauma amongst others require and benefit from a more open-ended setting. The length of the sessions, alongside which modalities are to be prioritised during our work together, will be discussed at the beginning of our first session. However, this can always be reviewed, and if necessary, adjusted.
I gained my clinical experience throughout different sectors. These included, charities providing intercultural counselling and psychotherapy to individuals. Along with private counselling as well as within the educational setting. I have also gained clinical experiences working within private as well as the educational setting. Some of the issues I support clients through are trauma, anxiety, depression, eating disorders, career and study related stress. I have also worked with clients who suffer from perfectionism, neurodiversity – such as Aspergers syndrome and autism, self-esteem, relationship difficulties and alcohol misuse. I am also experienced in PTSD, isolation, cultural displacement, and chronic health issues including chronic fatigue syndrome and insomnia.
I am a member of the BACP (British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy) and I adhere to their ethical framework. I also undertake regular clinical supervision, professional development and hold full professional indemnity insurance.

My career began as a tutor teaching literacy and numeracy within Adult Education and the prison service. It was here that I gained valuable experience teaching both young adults and mature students. I soon realised that students often needed further support to overcome barriers which prevented them learning effectively. Issues such as – anger, low self-esteem, stress and/or a lack of confidence. It was during that time that I became interested in CBT and that this type therapy could help students with their barriers to learning.
I also have experience working on a voluntary basis with The ‘Silver Line’ charity – a befriending service helping people to combat loneliness. This means supporting people of different ages and walks of life who found themselves lonely and isolated for a variety of reasons. Particularly when they had a significant life change. Sian Jones — Counsellor & Cognitive Behavioural Therapy Practioner
Location: Online CBT Therapy | BACP Registered | BSc (Hons) Psychology | PGDip in Counselling & CBT
Quick Summary: Here’s a short introduction to Sian and how she can help — you can read more about her below.
Sian is an experienced and compassionate therapist offering online CBT and relationship counselling for adults. She helps with challenges such as anxiety, depression, anger, jealousy, and relationship difficulties. Sian specialises in Rational Emotive Behaviour Therapy (REBT), a form of CBT that helps identify and challenge unhelpful beliefs and replace them with more constructive ways of thinking. With a background in both the corporate and therapy worlds, and qualifications including a BSc (Hons) in Psychology and a Postgraduate Diploma in CBT, Sian provides a warm, supportive space where you can explore your thoughts, reduce emotional distress, and make lasting positive changes.
My name is Sian Jones BSc (Hons) and I am a fully qualified Counsellor and Cognitive Behavioural Therapist. I am also the founder of CBT and Counselling Kent and have extensive experience in both CBT therapy and counselling. I now specialise exclusively in online CBT therapy and relationship counselling.
The approach I use is called Rational Emotive Behaviour Therapy (REBT), a well-established method under the CBT umbrella, developed by psychologist Albert Ellis. REBT focuses on how our emotions and behaviours are influenced by the beliefs and thoughts we hold about ourselves, others, and the world around us. Through this approach, I help clients identify and challenge unhelpful or self-defeating beliefs and replace them with more constructive and realistic alternatives.
Research shows that the most important factor in successful therapy is the relationship between you and your therapist. I believe my kind, empathetic, and straightforward approach helps people feel at ease and supported to work through the challenges they face.
I offer a warm, confidential, and non-judgemental space where you can explore what’s holding you back. Together, we will look at how your beliefs, thoughts, and feelings interact — and how they may be affecting your emotional wellbeing.
Through therapy, I will help you make sense of your situation, reduce confusion, and bring clarity to your thinking — helping you see the wood from the trees. My goal is not to tell you what to do, but to help you feel empowered to make choices that are right for you.
Building a trusting relationship is at the heart of my work. Many clients tell me they appreciate that I don’t just sit and nod — instead, I take an active role in the process, offering reflections, guidance, and genuine conversation to support your recovery and change.
I offer online CBT therapy and counselling for a wide range of difficulties, including:
Before becoming a therapist, I worked for many years in the corporate world, holding a variety of management roles at Coca-Cola Enterprises Ltd. While this might seem very different from therapy, the skills I developed — including communication, structure, and discipline — have been invaluable in my work as a counsellor. It also gave me a broad perspective on life outside the therapy room.
My career change was a deliberate and meaningful decision. Over 10 years, while working full-time, I completed a degree in Psychology and went on to train as a psychotherapist, counsellor and CBT therapist.
I am committed to maintaining the highest professional standards and am a member of both the UKCP and BACP, working in line with their ethical codes. I also undertake regular professional development and hold full professional indemnity insurance.

More From Daniella
Hello, I’m Daniella, a fully qualified Psychotherapeutic Counsellor. I hold a Level 5 Professional Diploma in Psychotherapeutic Counselling and a Certificate in Hypnotherapy. I’m an accredited member of the National Counselling Society (NCS) and also work as an NHS Counsellor and Wellbeing Coach, supporting both individuals and couples.
Psychotherapeutic Counselling focuses on the relationship between you and your therapist, which is at the heart of the work we do together. My approach is genuine, compassionate, and down-to-earth, helping you feel comfortable enough to open up and explore what’s going on for you.
It’s not always easy to ask for help, but reaching out shows strength. Without support, we are often left trying to manage painful emotions alone. I offer a warm, confidential space where you can safely explore your thoughts and feelings. Many clients tell me that simply having someone to listen and understand them makes a huge difference.
I know how it feels to be on the other side of the room — during my training, I experienced therapy myself. This helps me relate to the nerves, apprehension, or relief you may feel when you first come to counselling. I believe that, handled with care, the therapeutic relationship itself can be a powerful source of healing and change.
I aim to help you feel safe, supported, and free to speak openly. I will never give advice unless invited to but may gently challenge you when it feels helpful. Together, we can explore any unhelpful patterns, including self-criticism or low self-esteem, and work towards developing kinder ways of relating to yourself.
If you’re facing relationship difficulties at home or at work, we will look at how to reduce self-sabotaging behaviours and help you express your needs more confidently.
When appropriate, I integrate Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) techniques to help you break down challenges into manageable steps and shift unhelpful patterns. CBT is particularly useful for improving day-to-day wellbeing by creating practical and lasting change.
I am an accredited member of the National Counselling Society (NCS) and follow their code of ethics. I regularly undertake supervision and ongoing professional development to ensure safe, effective practice.

Tracey Neale — Online EMDR & Integrative Therapist

Quick Summary: Here’s a short introduction to Tracey and how she can help — you can read more about her below.
Tracey is an experienced and compassionate therapist offering EMDR, counselling, and CBT online for individuals and couples. She helps with a wide range of challenges, including anxiety, depression, PTSD, OCD, anger, addiction, bereavement, relationship difficulties, and childhood trauma. Tracey is trained in EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitisation Reprocessing) and integrates CBT and other therapies to meet your individual needs. With over 10 years of experience in private practice and the NHS, Tracey creates a warm, supportive space where you can work through past experiences, process trauma, and develop healthier ways of coping.
Hello, I’m Tracey Neale, a fully qualified online EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing) practitioner. I am also trained in Integrative Counselling and Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), and I work with both individuals and couples.
As an integrative counsellor, I draw on a variety of therapeutic approaches depending on what feels right for you. Whether we are working together using EMDR, CBT, or counselling, I will always adapt the sessions to meet your individual needs.
About EMDR Therapy
The mind has a natural ability to heal itself, much like the body does — and much of this happens during REM (Rapid Eye Movement) sleep. However, when we experience trauma — whether from childhood, a recent event, or an ongoing situation — this natural healing process can become overwhelmed. This can leave us with unresolved distress, often felt as anxiety, intrusive thoughts, or emotional overwhelm.
EMDR helps process these “frozen” memories safely. Using techniques such as eye movements or bilateral tapping, EMDR enables the brain to continue its natural healing process. It is highly effective in treating trauma, anxiety, and other emotional difficulties. You can find out more via the EMDR Association UK.
A question I’m often asked is: Does EMDR really work online? The answer is yes — absolutely. Therapists have been successfully using EMDR online for many years. Since the pandemic, new platforms such as Bilateral Base have been developed specifically to support safe and effective online EMDR sessions.
Counselling provides a safe, confidential space where you can explore your thoughts, feelings, and behaviours. Together, we will look at how past experiences may be affecting your life today.
CBT, which is often helpful alongside counselling, focuses on how your thoughts, feelings, behaviours, and physical sensations are linked. By breaking unhelpful cycles, CBT can help you manage anxiety, depression, and other emotional difficulties more effectively.
I firmly believe that my own personal experiences have helped shape me into a warm, empathetic, and understanding counsellor. This means I can offer you a confidential, non-judgemental space to explore your difficulties and gain insight into where they may have originated. Together, we will also look at how you view yourself, others, and the world around you.
Through the counselling relationship, we will work together to create positive change, at a pace that feels right for you.
I have over 10 years’ experience as a therapist, working within private practice and NHS IAPT (Improving Access to Psychological Therapies) services.
No issue is too big or too small. Whatever you are facing, we will work together to help you find clarity and move forward.
I am an accredited member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) and work within their ethical framework. I also undertake regular supervision and ongoing professional development to ensure I offer safe and effective therapy.

Beth is a warm and understanding therapist offering CBT, REBT, and EMDR for adults. She helps with challenges such as anxiety, depression, anger, low self-esteem, trauma, and overwhelming emotions. Hello, I’m Beth, a fully qualified CBT Counsellor offering therapy at CBT and Counselling Ashford. I hold an Advanced Diploma in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and Rational Emotive Behavioural Therapy (REBT), both accredited by the National Counselling Society (NCS).
In addition to my CBT training, I am also a qualified EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing) practitioner. EMDR is a powerful and effective approach for processing traumatic or distressing past experiences that may still be causing you difficulty today.
Like many people, I have experienced times when I felt lost, overwhelmed, or consumed by anxiety, depression, hurt, or anger. Engaging in REBT personally helped me recognise that these painful emotions were often driven by unhelpful and conflicting beliefs about myself and the world.
Through my training and personal journey, I learned how to challenge these beliefs, face fears I had previously avoided, and realise that many of my thoughts were neither factual nor helpful. This shift allowed me to develop healthier ways of coping, and to become more accepting, rational, and compassionate towards myself.
I understand what it feels like to be stuck, and I know the courage it takes to seek support. Working with me, you will learn tools to manage unhealthy emotions, develop self-understanding, and begin moving forward with renewed confidence. You’ll also discover that your feelings are valid, and that sharing them can be the first step towards healing.
I believe there is no “one-size-fits-all” approach to therapy. I draw on a variety of evidence-based models to suit your individual needs. These may include:
Together, we will identify unhelpful thought patterns and behaviours that may be holding you back. I will then help you replace them with healthier and more helpful ways of thinking and acting.
My approach is not only about symptom management — it is about helping you develop a deeper understanding of who you are, why you do the things you do, and how to build confidence and self-respect. I want you to feel stronger, more empowered, and able to recognise yourself as your greatest asset.
You will learn to create your own rules, make choices that are right for you, and live in a way that feels authentic — not just on paper, but in your heart.
I am an accredited member of the National Counselling Society (NCS) and adhere to their Code of Ethics. I undertake regular professional development, clinical supervision, and hold full professional indemnity insurance.

My training allows me to draw on both attachment theory and communication theory to help you understand how your difficulties may have developed. From there, we will focus on processing past experiences, improving emotional resilience, and developing practical strategies to manage any ongoing symptoms.
I work within the ethical codes of both the British Psychological Society (BPS) and the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP). I regularly engage in clinical supervision and professional development and hold full professional indemnity insurance.

More From Jo
Hello, my name is Jo Walmsley and I’m a fully qualified ‘Integrative Counsellor’ and Clinical Supervisor based at CBT and Counselling Sittingbourne. I am registered member of the BACP (British Association of Counsellors and Psychotherapists). Alongside holding professional accreditation with NCS (National Counselling Society). I provide CBT and counselling for both adults and children age 7+ years.
Being an integrative counsellor is at the heart of my work. This means, once the relationship is in place I draw upon a range of different “tools” from specific therapies. Depending on your individual needs. I will tailor your therapy so it’s personal to your specific goal and personality. I don’t believe that one single approach can treat each person in all situations.
I have gained counselling experience in many different fields over the last decade. Alongside my own private practice I also worked within the NHS for 6 years. Providing short term counselling and CBT therapy on the IAPT (Improving Access to Psychological Therapies) service. At Step 2, Step 3 and Step 3a High Intensity levels.
In addition to this, my work with a domestic abuse agency, led me to develop a real passion for helping survivors of abuse reclaim their lives and take back control. I am also the sole counsellor providing treatment to children in the Swale area for ‘Mind’.
My aim is to always provide a safe, warm and confidential space for you to explore your difficulties. I understand that reaching out for help might feel quite daunting. However, I will strive to put you at ease and make your counselling experience as positive and effective as possible.
I have a down to earth, friendly approach and believe that someone completely neutral is a great help investigating your needs are and what’s required in order to achieve them.
Just taking the time to talk things through can be eye-opening experience, because it’s very easy to get “stuck” inside our own head. Let’s face it, sometimes we are not our own best friend and our brains can be incredibly unkind to us. Therefore, we will start by getting any unhelpful thoughts in order, so you are able to think more rationally in order to achieve the life you want.
The person we grow up to become has been heavily influenced by our “care givers” and our early life experiences. Therefore, this sometimes means it has left us with thoughts processes and patterns of behaviour which are possibly unhealthy or unhelpful.
By helping you understand why you are the person you are it allows you to choose which “bits” you would like to keep and which you would like to change. This is where our work together begins. We will explore the skills or “tools” that will be most effective in helping you to move forward.
When working with children or young people, therapy is offered in a very different way, depending on the age of your child. I aim to build a friendship with them at first. Then, where relevant I may use a playful approach to begin counselling. Prior to meeting with your child, I will request a short phone call with you to understand the background of your child’s difficulties.
I have an advanced DBS (Disclosure Barring Service) indemnity insurance and abide by the code of ethics set out by the BACP and NCS. I’m in regular clinical supervision and ensure that learning is an ongoing process through training and continuing professional development.
I am experienced in problems such as phobias, intrusive thoughts, OCD/OCT, anxiety, depression, anger, jealousy or relationship problems.
