Online Therapy

Hello, my name is Kaye Barney and I’m a fully qualified, individual and couples’ therapist. I hold a ‘Psychology BA honours degree’ and a foundation degree in Counselling. My training was completed through ‘Relate’ and ‘Tavistock Relationships’. I am also an accredited practitioner of ‘Therapy for Depression’.

My online therapy provides support with problems such as anxiety, depression, and low self-esteem. Alongside help with intrusive thoughts, bereavement, eating disorders and relationship problems. However, no problem is too big or too small if you would like to discuss it.

How I can help you

I will help you explore what happens with intrusive thoughts; unpick unhelpful patterns of thinking and behaviour and encourage you to voice your hopes and fears. Together, we will work on helping you understand how you communicate more effectively, if required. We will try and identify what you would like to change along with helping you learn how to accept what you can’t and finding peace with that.

From the minute we start working together, I’ll help you feel at ease with my friendly, non-judgemental approach. I’ll give you time to talk about your problems in confidence and at your own pace. I will allow you space to be heard and help you find new ways of coping with whatever challenges you are facing.

I offer a holistic approach to helping you process your issues, by integrating –

  • Your past – and how this impacts your current situation.
  • Your present – understanding what’s going on for you right now.
  • Your future – helping you choose and achieve a more comfortable way forward.

About my online therapy

My session are carried out via Zoom for both couples and individuals or by telephone for individuals. Which allows you to have your sessions in the comfort and privacy of your own space and eliminates the need to travel.

I may use a variety of counselling approaches dependent on your individual needs, such as: –

  • Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) – which works on uncovering, and creating, links between thoughts and behaviour.
  • Psychodynamic – which explores the impact of the unconscious mind
  • Systemic – which looks at the influence of the family and other ‘systems.

This means my practice is informed by the professional standards and ethics of this association.

I am also trained in ‘Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) ‘Interpersonal Therapy’ ‘Imago Therapy’ and ‘Solution Focused Therapy.’ Therefore, I may draw upon these various approaches and work in an integrative way to help you to move forward more positively.

My approach during online therapy

At the start of our first session, I will ask you what has brought you to counselling and what you hope to achieve or change. That is if you know. If not, that’s not a problem. I will help you find clarity in order to fully understand what is troubling you.

Together, we will work on the hopes you hold for your counselling work and the realisation of any goals you have identified.

Through purposeful dialogue and acknowledgment of your experiences, I will support you in seeking understanding of any problematic areas. I will then help you clarify your thinking, so you are able to find new perspectives and more helpful behaviors going forward.

My aim is to support you whilst you face your challenges and help you identify any barriers to the change you seek.

I am experienced in problems such as anxiety, depression, and anger. Along with any unfinished emotions stemming from childhood. I have also worked with people recovering from toxic relationships and self-esteem issues. Sian Jones – Adult Online CBT Therapist

Online Practice

Online CBT Therapy

My name is Sian Jones BSc (hons) and I’m a fully qualified Counsellor and Cognitive Behavioural Therapist. I am the founder of CBT and Counselling Kent and have extensive CBT Therapy and counselling experience.  I now only specialise in online CBT therapy and relationship counselling.

The approach I use for online CBT is called ‘Rational Emotive Behaviour Therapy’ (REBT) which falls under the CBT umbrella. REBT was developed by Psychologist Albert Ellis. It is based on the belief that our emotions and behaviours are largely influenced by our thoughts and beliefs about ourselves, others and the world. REBT aims to identify and challenge any irrational and self-defeating beliefs and replace them with more rational and constructive ones.

How I can help you

Research consistently shows that the single most powerful factor in therapy, is the strength of relationship between the client and therapist. I like to think that my kind, empathetic, straightforward approach will help you develop an understanding of yourself and support you to work through the problems you face.

My therapy is carried out in a warm, confidential and supportive environment. I will help you explore your concerns and establish what might be stopping you moving forward. I will help you understand the relationship between your beliefs, feelings and thoughts- because they will be having an effect on your emotional well-being.

Together we will rationalise your situation so you are able to see the wood from the trees. This will enable your clarity of mind and help reduce any confusion. It’s not about forcing you to take a particular course of action, it’s about empowering you to have choice.

The building of a trusting relationship is one of the most important factors in order for you to feel comfortable enough to discuss your feelings. Feedback I regularly receive is that people don’t want a therapist to just sit there and nod, waiting for you to speak. Therefore, I always take an active part in the conversation and the process of recovery and change.

I offer online CBT therapy and counselling for problems such as anxiety, depression, anger, jealousy or relationship problems.

My Experience

Outside of my therapeutic experience, my background is within the corporate world of ‘Coca-Cola Enterprises Ltd’ where I worked for many years in a variety of management roles. This might appear far removed from what I do now. However, I firmly believe the training, structure and discipline I gained during this time has contributed greatly in my becoming a successful Counsellor. I also feel that my exposure in this type of environment has enabled me view of a ‘wider’ world and not just that of a therapy room.

I took the decision to change direction and pursue a career in counselling. Over a 10-year period, whilst working full time. I undertook a degree in Psychology in order to train to become a psychotherapist, counsellor and a CBT Therapist.

Tracey Neale – Adult CBT & EMDR

Online Practice

Online EMDR Therapy

Hello, my name is Tracey Neale and  I’m a fully qualifed Online EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitisation Reprocessing) practitioner.  I’m also trained in Integrative therapy and Cognitive Behavioural Therapy(CBT) and work with both couples and individuals.

Integrative counselling means I draw on a number of different therapeutic theories depending on your individual needs.

EMDR Therapy : Eye movement desensitisation reprocessing

The mind can heal itself naturally in the same way the body does. Much of this natural coping mechanism occurs during sleep, particularly during rapid eye movement (REM) sleep.

However, when we experience trauma, such as trauma during childhood or, for example, perhaps a recent car accident, then the natural coping mechanism can become overloaded. This can lead to the
disturbing experiences remaining frozen in the brain or being “unprocessed”.

Therefore the process of EMDR involves the identification of unprocessed traumatic or other distressing experiences that are continuing to drive an individual’s psychological disturbance. This can be achieved through eye movements or tapping bilaterally, known as bilateral stimulation.
EMDR is effective in treating a wide range of mental health problems. For more information – or more information – click EMDR Association

EMDR therapy online —  People often ask, is EMDR effective online. The answer is a resounding yes! Therapists have been administering EMDR online with success for years. The pandemic further highlighted the need for effective, online treatments and since then there’s been the development of platforms that support bilateral stimulation, such as Bilateral Base.

Counselling is a talking therapy that will support you in exploring your past experiences and help you recognise any negative patterns, often formed in childhood.

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) is based on the theory that our thoughts, feelings and behaviour are all connected. Therefore, if we change one of these we can alter the others. CBT is effective for all kinds of mental health problems such as anxiety, depression and anger.

My experience

I have over ten years’ experience as a practicing therapist, working within private practice and the ‘NHS IAPT’ (Increased Access to Psychological Therapies) services.

How my online counselling can help

I firmly believe that my own personal experiences have contributed to me being a warm, empathetic counsellor. Thiis means,  I will support you in exploring your difficulties and help you understand where they might have originated. We will also look at how you feel about yourself and the world around you.  This will all be achieved through a confidential, non-judgmental therapeutic relationship. Working together we will help you bring about a positive change.

My expertise is with individuals experiencing problems such anxiety, depression, anger and obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD). Along with post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and childhood trauma. I am experienced in bereavement counselling and eating disorders. Alongside drug, alcohol and gambling addictions. As well as issues with sexual orientation, gender, relationships, self-esteem, family dynamics.

I am accredited by the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) so work within their ethical framework.
