Such as use of affirmations, imagery, mindfulness, compassion, or solution focused techniques, to name but a few. Collaboratively, we will work on identifying and challenging how any irrational thoughts, beliefs and behaviours that might be negatively impacting you. All sessions are collaborative and I will play an active role with the aim of empowering you to gain control. Alongside encouraging you to make positive changes in your thinking and behaviours. This will develop a lasting tool kit which will bring balance and happiness and a more fulfilling life.

Hello, my name is Beth and I am a fully qualified CBT Therapist. I hold an ‘Advanced Diploma in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)’ and ‘Rational Emotive Behavioural Therapy (REBT)’ awarded by ‘The College of Cognitive Therapies London’. Both of which are accredited by the ‘National Counselling Society’ (NCS).
I am also an EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing) Practioner. Which is highly effective in the processing of traumatic or upsetting past events which are causing distress in the present.
Like the vast majority of people, there have been periods in my life, where I have felt lost or overwhelmed by anxiety, depression, hurt or anger. Engaging in REBT taught me to recognise that these unhealthy negative emotions were provoked by my conflicting needs and demands. Leading me to behave in unhelpful and self-sabotaging ways.
My training and engagement in REBT taught me how to confront and challenge, what I believed to be, the harsh realities of life, which I had often avoided in the past. Only through facing my fears did I come to realise that my beliefs were generally irrational and rarely fact based. By understanding how my thoughts affect my feelings and behaviour has enabled me to be happier, more rational and more accepting of myself.
By working with me, you will learn the tools to manage your unhealthy emotions and help you move forward with your life. You will learn that your feelings are valid and that sharing them is the key to healing what’s hurting.
I believe that a singular approach to therapy is unlikely to be effective for everyone. My training and experience allow me to I draw upon a wide range of evidence-based models, which enable me to tailor my therapy to suit your individual needs. This might include mindfulness-based cognitive therapy, solution focused therapy, compassion focused therapy, schema therapy or dialectical behavioural therapy.
I will help you manage your unhealthy emotions by identifying any unhelpful/unhealthy thought patterns and self-sabotaging behaviours. I will then support you to replace them with healthier, more helpful practices.
My approach will help you develop a deeper understanding of who you are and why you do the things you do. I will help you develop a sense of confidence and self-respect, so you will be able to recognise you are stronger than you think. I will also help you appreciate that you are your greatest asset.
You will learn to make your own rules, live by your own terms and be bold, wild and free. You will learn to do what is right for you because you will recognise that you are the only one who can. But most importantly, you will learn to live a life that doesn’t just look good on paper but also feels good in your heart.
I am an accredited member of the National Counselling Society (NCS). As such, subscribe to and work within the NCS Code of Ethics. I undertake regular professional development and supervision as well as holding professional indemnity insurance.
