More from Amanda

Hello, I’m Amanda, a qualified CBT counsellor dedicated to helping you understand yourself more clearly and feel more in control of your emotional wellbeing. I have more than 20 years of experience working with individuals facing a wide range of challenges, and my approach is both compassionate and down-to-earth.

CBT focuses on the connection between your thoughts, feelings, and behaviours. In our sessions, we will explore unhelpful thinking patterns, identify what might be keeping you stuck, and develop practical strategies to help you move forward. My aim is to give you effective tools that you can use long after therapy ends, so you feel more confident in managing whatever life brings.

You will always have a safe, calm, and non-judgemental space to talk openly. Together, we will set clear and achievable goals, work through difficult emotions, and build healthier ways of coping. I will support you at a pace that feels right for you, helping you navigate challenges such as anxiety, stress, low mood, trauma, and emotional overwhelm.

Qualifications

  • 2021 Advanced Diploma in Psychotherapeutic Counselling
  • 2017 Hypnotherapy & Counselling
  • 2012 MA in Criminology
  • 2009 BSc in Psychology (BPS recognised)

Background and Experience

I have spent many years emotionally supporting people in a variety of roles. With a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology and a Master’s degree in Criminology, I have a strong understanding of human behaviour and emotional wellbeing.

My experience includes working across the criminal justice system, youth offending services, special needs support, and teaching psychology. I have also supported people through education, bereavement, and loss, with a particular focus on stress and emotional resilience. These roles have strengthened my compassion, adaptability, and ability to help people through difficult and complex situations.

I’m here to support you in understanding what is going on in your life and finding ways to feel more in control. In our sessions, we can gently explore what you are struggling with and look at practical steps to help you move forward. Together, we can:

  • Make sense of what feels difficult right now, so things feel less overwhelming
  • Set clear, realistic goals, giving you something steady to work towards
  • Look at how your thoughts, feelings, and behaviours connect, and how this may be affecting your wellbeing
  • Learn new ways of thinking and coping, so you feel calmer and more balanced day to day
  • Build confidence and resilience, helping you feel more able to manage challenges as they arise

My aim is to offer you a safe, supportive space where you can talk openly, feel understood, and begin to make positive, lasting changes at a pace that feels right for you.
