She works in a calm and practical way, helping you understand how your thoughts and behaviours shape how you feel. Hello, I’m Amanda, a qualified CBT counsellor dedicated to helping you understand yourself more clearly and feel more in control of your emotional wellbeing. I have more than 20 years of experience working with individuals facing a wide range of challenges, and my approach is both compassionate and down-to-earth.
CBT focuses on the connection between your thoughts, feelings, and behaviours. In our sessions, we will explore unhelpful thinking patterns, identify what might be keeping you stuck, and develop practical strategies to help you move forward. My aim is to give you effective tools that you can use long after therapy ends, so you feel more confident in managing whatever life brings.
You will always have a safe, calm, and non-judgemental space to talk openly. Together, we will set clear and achievable goals, work through difficult emotions, and build healthier ways of coping. I will support you at a pace that feels right for you, helping you navigate challenges such as anxiety, stress, low mood, trauma, and emotional overwhelm.
I have spent many years emotionally supporting people in a variety of roles. With a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology and a Master’s degree in Criminology, I have a strong understanding of human behaviour and emotional wellbeing.
My experience includes working across the criminal justice system, youth offending services, special needs support, and teaching psychology. I have also supported people through education, bereavement, and loss, with a particular focus on stress and emotional resilience. These roles have strengthened my compassion, adaptability, and ability to help people through difficult and complex situations.
