Counselling Sidcup
Hi, my name is Ronak, and I am a fully qualified Counsellor and Psychotherapist based at CBT and Counselling Sidcup. I hold a Masters (Level 7) in Psychodynamic Counselling from Goldsmiths University and I’m a member of the BACP (British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy). I provide Counselling and Psychotherapy to adults and offer both open-ended and short-term Counselling, CBT Therapy and Psychotherapy to adult.
I’m multilingual and offer therapy in English, German and Farsi (Persian/Iranian)
My approach to therapy
I have a clinical background in Psychodynamic Counselling which means that some aspects of our work together will focus on identifying how your past experiences and relationships may have shaped you. This is a process which supports a deeper understanding of the difficulties you may be currently experiencing and thus offers a chance to process and find new and creative ways to manage these issues.
I understand that everyone is different, and what works for one person may not necessarily work for another. Therefore, I’m flexible in my clinical approach and have adapted a more integrative way of working. This means that I will be drawing from different clinical approaches which will help support you within your journey. An example could be, we may begin by agreeing to work within a short-term setting, using a more practical guided framework such as CBT (Cognitive Behavioural Therapy). If needed we could then move to a more explorative and in-depth way of working. This will allow us to tackle any issues that may need more time, and can therefore be addressed within an open-ended setting.
In my experience; complex issues such as trauma amongst others require and benefit from a more open-ended setting. The length of the sessions, alongside which modalities are to be prioritised during our work together, will be discussed at the beginning of our first session. However, this can always be reviewed, and if necessary, adjusted.
My background/experience
I gained my clinical experience throughout different sectors. These included, charities providing intercultural counselling and psychotherapy to individuals. Along with private counselling as well as within the educational setting. I have also gained clinical experiences working within private as well as the educational setting. Some of the issues I support clients through are trauma, anxiety, depression, eating disorders, career and study related stress. I have also worked with clients who suffer from perfectionism, neurodiversity – such as Aspergers syndrome and autism, self-esteem, relationship difficulties and alcohol misuse. I am also experienced in PTSD, isolation, cultural displacement, and chronic health issues including chronic fatigue syndrome and insomnia.
