About Jackie Hare – Adult Counselling Chatham
Hello my name is Jackie and I hold a ‘CPCAB Level 4 Diploma in ‘Therapeutic Counselling’ and I am based at CBT and Counselling Chatham. I am a registered member of the BACP (British Association of Counselling & Psychotherapy)
I am also a qualified CBT Counsellor which can support you to understand
negative thoughts, beliefs and behaviours which can impact our everyday life.
Cognitive Behavioural Therapy is used to break the cycle of negative or irrational thoughts and challenge behaviour and beliefs in a positive way.
By working with you and giving you techniques and tools to use inside and outside of the therapy room you can start to gain back control over these thoughts and beliefs in a positive way and gain meaning and understanding to your negative thoughts.”
I do understand, that for some people, it can feel like an incredibly brave step seeking counselling. However, please rest assured, that I will do my very best to put your mind at rest by answering any questions, doubts or worries you might have.
My idea of creating an effective therapeutic relationship between us is to ensure you have a safe, calm space to enable you to talk both openly and honestly. I appreciate, that there are times in all of our lives that things can seem overwhelming or too big to manage alone. So, I will be there to make sure feel heard, understood and validated without judgement.
I am passionate about helping people work through their problems so they can move forward more positively. Therefore, at the beginning first session, I will ask what you hope to achieve through having therapy. That’s if you know of course. It’s okay if you don’t, together will explore your thoughts and feelings so you are able to have some clarity. Whether your issues are from everyday life stresses. Or perhaps past events are still having a negative impact on your life now. It doesn’t matter what it is, no problem is too big or too small if it is troubling you. I also have a special interest in Miscarriage and infant Loss as well as post-partum depression.
How I can help you
My approach to therapy is ‘Person-Centred’, which means I will create a safe, trusting space where ‘you’ are at the heart of every session. You choose the focus each week, bringing anything you feel
My role as your therapist is to guide you on your journey. I will support you throughout whilst maintaining confidentiality and respect for the things you share with me.
Although sometimes people feel uncertain about seeking therapy, I can reassure you that counselling can put you on a path to positive change. Most people wish they had sought therapy months, if not years, before. That doesn’t alter the fact that counselling can be challenging at times. There may be tears, but there will also be laughter and every emotion in between. We will work through these emotions together. I will have plenty of tissues on standby just in case!
Ethical Standards
As a member of BACP I subscribe to their code of ethics. This includes undertaking continuous professional development and clinical Supervision. I also hold professional indemnity insurance in order to be able to practice.
If you wish to consider medication or are seeking a medical diagnosis or medical report. An appointment with your GP or a Consultant Psychiatrist would be more appropriate.
