Hello, my name is Cesare Saguato and I’m a fully qualified NHS trained Integrative Psychotherapeutic Counsellor based at CBT and Counselling Gillingham. I am also a Clinical Supervisor and Mindfulness and Compassion Teacher and have over 15 years’ experience. I’m a registered member of the BACP (British Association of Counsellors and Psychotherapists), the British Association of Mindfulness Based Approaches (BAMBA), and I am on the Professional Standards Authority accredited register.
I have experience helping people with many issues including: anxiety, panic attacks, low mood and depression. Along with stress management, self-compassion, traumas, domestic abuse, relationship and family issues. As well as overthinking, burnout, and crisis of values and meaning. Which is often caused by critical life events (e.g. a perceived failure, illness, death, divorce, or job loss). This can link with a loss of one’s sense of coherence in life, issues of identity, self-worth, self-esteem, and questioning life’s purpose.
My training in mindfulness, self-compassion and integrative psychotherapeutic counselling, enables me to weave together an approach that best suits your needs. . This includes drawing from Person Centred, Psychodynamic, Existential, Relational, Cognitive, CBT, Mindfulness and Compassion based modalities and methods. Helping you meet whatever challenges you are currently facing with more clarity, kindness and resourcefulness. Empowering you to make the choices and changes you are looking to make to live a more content and fulfilling life.
So, whether you are looking to make defined changes in your life. Or perhaps less clear about your current experience and would like a more open exploration. Rest assured, the style, structure and pace of the sessions will be in line with your specific needs and goals.
I enjoy working with people from any background, culture or sexual orientation. My belief is that that all humans appreciate understanding, kindness and connection and wish to move towards greater well-being. Even if we don’t have the right, supportive conditions to help us – when they are put in place – movement towards greater happiness will occur naturally. The evidence is clear; in that a good, supportive, therapeutic relationship is shown to catalyse change and growth.
My approach to therapy is holistic. Which means I take a view of the whole person, including how the mind, body and environment all influence our lived experience. I believe, that ultimately, we are the experts on ourselves. However, I will be there to provide an open, accepting, empathic, safe and confidential space to help you explore your situation.
As our therapeutic relationship develops, I will help you develop more self-awareness, clarity and kindness towards your experience. Alongside exploring the choices you make with regard to how you relate to your inner and outer worlds. Then together, we will explore strategies in order for you implement the changes you have chosen
If you begin therapy with me, you are not expect to share everything once; only what you feel comfortable with. As a therapist grounded in the Person-Centred approach, I will follow your lead so we go at your chosen pace. You are welcome to feedback your experience of the therapy with me, so we can ensure it is meeting your needs at all times.
My work has been in a variety of settings dealing with a wide range of human difficulties and experiences. These include colleges, prisons, workplaces and in my own private practice. I also work as a clinical supervisor in a number of settings, supporting other therapists with their work. Addionally, I run workshops and courses in mindfulness, compassion and mental health awareness in the public, private and charity sectors.
As a member of the BACP and BAMBA I adhere to their Ethical frameworks. I am fully insured and engage in continuing professional development. I also monthly peer and clinical supervision.
