Kobe Akanmu – Adult Therapist

Dartford Practice

Counselling Dartford

My name is Kobe and I’m a fully qualified and experienced Psychotherapeutic Counsellor based at CBT and Counselling Dartford. I  specialise in adult individual therapy and offer a safe, supportive and confidential space for you to explore your unique issues in order to find a path forward. I have a Psychology MSc, a Higher Diploma in Psychotherapeutic Counselling and Professional Certificate in Relationship Counselling.

Perhaps you are struggling with effective communication, caught in a cycle of negative thoughts and emotions, or facing challenges in your personal life. You’re not alone. Emotional and personal issues are incredibly common. However, they don’t have to define or limit your well-being and growth.

I don’t believe in a one-size-fits-all approach to therapy. Instead, I will empower you to achieve your unique personal goals. Whether that’s improving self-esteem, resolving past traumas, managing anxiety or depression, or gaining greater clarity on your life’s direction.

My approach to therapy

During our therapy sessions, I will use the ‘Person-Centred Approach’, focusing on your specific care and needs as an individual. I will help you rediscover healthy coping mechanisms andundo any unhelpful thinking patterns. If you are happy too, we may delve into your past experiences and life events. This fosters greater self-awareness, understanding and self-compassion.

As a dedicated counsellor, I have honed my expertise in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), a powerful approach that empowers clients to overcome challenges by reshaping negative thought patterns and behaviours. My proficiency in CBT techniques allows me to guide individuals through a process of self-discovery, helping them identify and modify unhelpful cognitive distortions that contribute to emotional distress. By collaborating with clients to develop practical strategies for managing stress, anxiety, and depression, I foster an environment where sustainable change can flourish. My commitment to evidence-based practices ensures that each therapeutic journey is grounded in proven methods, tailored to meet the unique needs of every client who walks through my door.

I believe effective communication with oneself is key to personal growth. Therefore, we will work together to help you develop skills to understand your thoughts/emotions, express yourself clearly, and navigate life’s challenges with resilience.
